One of my staple go-to sandwiches since I started my fitness journey is my simple tuna and avocado sandwich. If you’re an avocado lover (like me) then you just might want to take a look at this super simple creation. This delicious sandwich uses only 4 ingredients and can be made within a few minutes.
Let me show you how I make it…
Step 1: Gather the ingredients, which is just 4 items so that won’t take you long:
I like to use Starkist Albacore White Tune in a packet and Aunt Sue’s Raw & Unfiltered Honey. Both of these items are shown below along with the calorie content. However, there are many different options for tuna & honey (and bread, too), just go with what you like.
Step 2: Add the avocado, tuna and honey in a bowl and mix it all together into a green-ish mixture of deliciousness!
Step 3: Toast (or don’t toast) your bread of choice and add your tuna-avo mix on top! That’s it!
There are healthier choices for bread than what you see here, which can certainly be just as tasty. Use the kind of bread/brand you like.
As shown above, you can eat this as an open face sandwich, or as a standard sandwich. I tend to prefer to eat it as an open face sandwich becasue it feels like you’re eating two sandwiches without the added bread. It’s also easier to see the avo-mix when handling to avoid anything falling out when handling.
Total calories in the Tuna and Avocado Sandwich:
- 2 slices of toast = 150 calories
- 85g of Tuna (1 packet) = 90 calories
- 21g of honey = 61 calories
- 1 small avocado = 200 calories
Total = 501 calories
There’s quite a bit of heft to that tuna and avocado sandwich. I usually eat it with a veggie side (another 100 calories) and it makes a filling lunch option.
If you’re not a big tuna fan you can simply replace the tuna with a scrambled egg, which makes a very tasty breakfast sandwich.
